The Irvine Valley women's volleyball team completed its first ever undefeated regular season, finishing with a record of 21-0 overall and 14-0 in Orange Empire Conference play.
But the Lasers don't care about any of that now. They are focused on the playoffs and trying to get to the state tournament.
IVC, which is ranked No. 1 in the state, begins its quest Tuesday night in the first round of the Southern California Regional Playoffs at home. The Lasers host Palomar at 7 p.m.
IVC defeated Palomar in three straight games at home earlier this season (30-13, 30-21, 30-21). The Lasers got 15 kills and nine digs from sophomore outside hitter Chelsea Pavlik in the win.
Sophomore middle blocker Jessica Flood added nine kills and a team-high five blocks and freshman outside hitter Camryn Torromeo had a solid performance with six aces to go along with eight digs and three kills.
The Lasers are led by Pavlik, who has led the team in kills in all 21 matches. She also has a school record for most kills in a season with 412.
Palomar enters Tuesday's match with a record of 14-9. It was 10-2 in the Pacific Coast Conference to finish second behind San Diego Mesa.
Palomar is led by freshman middle blocker Audrey Green. She was named the Pacific Coast Conference’s athlete of the week on Nov. 11 after finishing the week with 33 kills and 14 blocks.
