The Irvine Valley women's volleyball team stayed undefeated with an impressive four-game win at Golden West last Friday in an Orange Empire Conference contest.
The Lasers, who are ranked No. 1 in the state, dropped the first game, but came storming back to take the next three (28-30, 31-29, 31-29, 30-27).
Sophomore outside hitter Chelsea Pavlik led the way once again, recording 32 kills, which was the most ever in a match by an IVC player.
The previous high was 30 by Denee Ezerins against Grossmont in 2001.
Pavlik had the 32 kills in 59 attempts with 11 errors (.356 hitting percentage). She also added 21 digs, four blocks and two aces.
Pavlik is averaging 5.76 kills per game and is just 69 kills away from the IVC season record.
Sophomore middle blocker Jessica Flood chipped in with 17 kills and eight blocks in the win over Golden West.
Freshman outside hitter Mari Guadagnini added 10 kills and six blocks. Freshman libero Amanda Donaldson had 13 digs and sophomore setter Kelly Keating ran the offense with 58 assists.
The win improved IVC’s record to 16-0. IVC defeated Golden West in five games the first time the two teams played.
Irvine Valley takes on Riverside in a home match on Wednesday night at 6 p.m. The Tigers (3-9, 2-7) are coming off a tough-four game loss to Fullerton last Friday.
The Lasers swept Riverside the first time the two teams met, 30-21, 30-21, 30-22.
