Women's volleyball team wins in three straight over Saddleback

The Irvine Valley women's volleyball team improved its record to 12-0 on the season with a 30-21, 30-10, 30-22 victory over Saddleback Friday night in an Orange Empire Conference game at IVC.
IVC, which moved up to second in the state poll Friday afternoon, had to battle from behind in the first two games against the Gauchos.
Saddleback took a 16-14 lead in the first game before the Lasers outscored the Gauchos 16-5 the rest of the game.
Irvine Valley fell behind, 7-3, in the second game but then scored 14 points in a row on sophomore Brooke Bryant's serve, to run away with the second game.
The Lasers had little trouble putting Saddleback away in game three.
Sophomore outside hitter Chelsea Pavlik led the team in kills for the 12th straight time this season with 23. She also had a team-high 17 digs and hit .500 overall getting her 23 kills on 38 attempts with just four errors.
Freshmen Amanda Donaldson and Camryn Torromeo each chipped in with 10 digs and sophomore Brooke Bryant had nine digs and four aces.
Sophomore setter Kelly Keating finished with 42 assists.
The win combined with Golden West defeating Orange Coast on Friday night moved Irvine Valley into first place in the conference standings.
IVC plays at Cypress next Wednesday and then has a big showdown with Orange Coast, which continued to be ranked first in the state poll, next Friday at 6 p.m.
