The Irvine Valley women's volleyball team stayed undefeated with the three-game sweep (30-26, 30-18, 30-23) victory over Citrus Wednesday night at home in a non-conference contest.
It was the Lasers’ third straight-game win in four matches this season. Overall, IVC has dropped just one game this season.
Irvine Valley nearly lost the first game Wednesday night. It got off to a slow start and trailed, 18-13, in the first game before rallying for the victory.
The Lasers cruised in the second game. Sophomore setter Kelly Keating had a nice run of points on her serve to push IVC out to a big lead and freshman Jamie Lyons, with her serve, helped the Lasers close out game two.
The third game was close early. IVC held an 8-7 lead and then scored three straight points to go up by four. One of the points came on a kill by sophomore outside hitter Chelsea Pavlik.
Citrus never got closer than three points the rest of the way. Up, 14-11, Irvine Valley went on a 5-0 run to put the third game out of reach.
Pavlik led the Lasers in kills for the fourth straight match this season, finishing with 19 kills. She also had 12 digs and two aces.
Freshman middle blocker Jillyan Mina had 13 kills and freshman outside hitter Mari Guadgnini finished with 10 kills.
Sophomore defensive specialist Brooke Bryant contributed seven digs and sophomore setter Kelly Keating finished with 44 assists and three aces.
Irvine Valley plays again Friday at San Diego City.
