Women's tennis team beats Fullerton

The Irvine Valley women’s team took five singles matches and two of three in doubles for a 7-2 Orange Empire Conference win over Fullerton at home last Thursday.
Three of Irvine Valley’s wins in singles came in three sets. Sophomore Heidi Chiles won, 7-5, 3-6, 6-3, in the No. 1 position, Freshman Malia Shoji came out on top, 6-3, 2-6, 6-2 in the No. 5 singles match and at No. 6 singles freshman Tina Pham won, 6-2, 5-7, 7-6(7-1).
Irvine Valley also got wins at No. 2 singles from sophomore Chizuru Seki (6-1, 6-4) and at No. 4 singles from sophomore Rebecca Cook (6-4, 6-1).
In doubles, Irvine Valley’s top team of Chiles and Seki won, 8-2, and the No. 2 team of Cook and Pham won, 9-8(7-4).
Irvine Valley improved its record to 3-2 overall and 2-1 in conference.
The Lasers take on Orange Coast at home at 2 p.m. on Tuesday in another conference match.
