Irvine Valley women’s soccer team stayed with one of the top teams in the Orange Empire Conference for a half.But Orange Coast scored four goals in the final 45 minutes to earn a 5-2 victory over the Lasers Tuesday afternoon at Irvine Valley.IVC surprised Orange Coast in the third minute with a goal. OCC goalie Alyssa Simon couldn’t handle a corner kick by Brittney Threestar and the ball fell over the line for a score.Orange Coast tied the match up in the 17th minute. Kallie Ryker sent a corner kick into the box from the right side. The ball found its way through the IVC defense and Julia Brokenhagen was there to score with a shot to the lower left corner.But the score remained tied for the rest of the half.Orange Coast took the lead for good two minutes into the second half. Taryn Bales chipped a cross in from the left. Eric Munoz-Hardway was waiting on the back post and scored.Ryker then scored on three unassisted goals in the second half to cap the Pirates’ scoring. She converted a penalty kick in the 56th minute after Bales was taken down in the box and then a minute later, Ryker hit from long range. She scored her final goal after an IVC miscue in the defensive end in the 80th minute. Ryker now has 13 goals and seven assists on the season.IVC scored its last goal right before Ryker’s third strike. Arabia Ruiz found the back of the net off a pass from Mary Carreon in the 73rd minute. It was Ruiz’s team-leading eighth goal of the season.Christina Huapaya made seven saves in goal for the Lasers.Orange Coast, which came into the contest tied for second in conference with 15 points, improved its record to 10-2-0 overall and 6-2-0 in conference play. The defeat was Irvine Valley’s third straight and dropped the Lasers’ mark to 3-9-1 overall and 1-6-1 in conference.
