The Irvine Valley women’s soccer team saw its record fall to 2-8-3 overall and 0-3-3 in the Orange Empire Conference after a 5-0 loss to conference-leading Santiago Canyon Tuesday afternoon at IVC.
Santiago Canyon went into the contest tied atop the conference standings with Riverside with a record of 4-0-1.
The Hawks improved to 8-1-3 overall and 5-0-1 with the win. Santiago Canyon has out-scored its conference opponents, 34-0, so far.
Santiago Canyon scored four of its goals on Tuesday in the first half. Michelle Carels got the Hawks on the board and Katie Marshall, Shayna Russell and Kelsey Morgan added first-half goals. Marshall also had two assists in the first half.
Irvine Valley played the Hawks tougher in the second half, allowing just one goal. IVC goalie Lupe Jimenez finished with 11 saves.
Irvine Valley plays again on Friday, traveling to Santa Ana for a 3 p.m. contest. The Dons went into this week’s action with a record of 0-6-0 in conference play.
