Women's soccer game versus Santa Ana scheduled for Tuesday is postponed
Oct 23, 2007
The Irvine Valley College women's soccer game against Santa Ana slated for 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 23 at IVC has been rescheduled for Monday, Oct. 29 at 3 p.m. at IVC.
School officials decided Tuesday morning that the game needed to be pushed back to next week because of continued poor air quality and Santa Ana wind conditions.
Further off-shore winds through the afternoon on Tuesday were expected with strong winds between 12 and 6 p.m.
"It makes playing today most difficult, but promises to restore a normal weather pattern and improved air quality each day," IVC Athletic Director Keith Shackleford said. "Although our air quality today is better than Monday, we can still expect significant amounts of particulate matter in the air for today."
"My apologies for the late notice, but we wanted to see if there would be circumstances permitting us to play today," Shackleford added. "But given the potential effects of the air quality on the health and welfare of our students, I felt it most prudent to reschedule this contest next week."
Further questions can be directed to Shackleford at (949) 451-5407 or at kshackleford@ivc.edu.
