In Wednesday's Orange Empire Conference women's golf match at the par 74 Los Serranos North Course, Irvine Valley College's three individuals posted the three lowest scores.

Freshman Nicole Rivera earned medalist honors for the second straight conference match.

She led IVC With a 2 over par 76. Rivera opened bogey, double bogey and shot a score of 4 over par on the opening nine holes.

But she rallied on the closing nine holes, shooting a 2 under par score of 36. Her closing nine holes included four birdies and a par, in a five-hole stretch.

"I was pleased with the mental toughness she showed," IVC Coach Ben Burnett said. "Rather than allowing the opening two holes to depress her, Nicole refocused and played the final 16 holes under par."

Co-captain Sam Roberts opened with a solid 1 over par 37, on the front nine. That score was earned with six pars and a birdie to offset two bogeys. The sophomore posted a score of 45 on the final nine holes for an 8 over par total of 82.

Freshman Tiffany Kane posted the third best score of the match with an 87. She birdied two of the last four holes.

Santa Ana won the team even with a score of 379. Fullerton finished at 394. IVC recorded no score as a team because it didn't have the required four players.
