Freshman Nicole Rivera paced the Irvine Valley women's golf team in Palm Springs at the annual Desert Classic Invitational last weekend.Scoring even par rounds of 72 on both days of the tournament, Rivera's two-day score of 144 led all competitors from the Orange Empire Conference and earned her another all-tournament recognition. She finished third overall. Lynn Cowan of Sierra College was the event medalist with back to back scores of 69.Kayla Reide shot 74 and 67 for 141 to pace Sacramento City to the team victory. But no other scores were bettter than Rivera's 144.IVC team co-captain Samantha Roberts posted rounds of 82 and 80 in her final preparation for Irvine Valley's Orange Empire Conference opener on Monday at 1 p.m. at Oak Creek. Roberts was the runnerup to teammate Felicia Titus for Player of the Year honors, last season.Irvine Valley freshman Tiffany Kane scored 86 and 84 for a solid 170 total.IVC Coach Ben Burnett expects all three of his eligiible players on the squad to earn spots on the all-conference team and advance in post season play this season.
