Titus, Roberts finish tied for eighth at state
Nov 20, 2008
Irvine Valley golfers Felicia Titus and Samantha Roberts tied for the eighth best score at the State Championships, which wrapped up on Tuesday at Olivas Links in Ventura.
The two IVC players just missed out on all-state recognition. That went to the top six individuals.
Titus, who was the Orange Empire Conference player of the year, shot scores of 80 and 80 at the two-day tournament. Roberts, who along with Titus led IVC to its second ever team conference title, shot 81 and 79.
"It was a good ending to a great season," IVC coach Ben Burnett said. "I think that the experience gained by Felicia and Samantha will result in Irvine Valley competing for the 2009 state title."
Santa Barbara came from behind after day one to win the state team title. Sacramento City placed second and Palomar, which was the stroke leader after day one, took third.
