Freshman Sam Roberts paced the Irvine Valley women's golf team to four wins, including a 23-stroke victory over rival Santiago Canyon, in an Orange Empire Conference match at IVC's home course of Oak Creek on Monday.
The Lasers improved their conference record to 23-1. Santiago Canyon is in second in conference at 18-6.
Roberts earned the medalist honers with a score of 78. She had one birdie, nine pars and eight bogeys. Roberts is second in the conference in scoring, averaging 81 for 18 holes.
Freshman Felicia Titus followed with an 80 for IVC. Titus finished with one birdie, 11 pars, four bogeys, one double bogey and one quadruple bogey. Titus leads the conference with a 18-hole average of 77.17.
Sophomores Courtney Schroeder and Alex Calvillo sewed up the conference win for the Lasers.
Schroeder scored 82 and Calvillo finished at 83.
Sophomore Val Watts at 91 and freshman Bianca Brown at 97 had IVC's throw out scores.
"Three-hundred twenty three is the type of score that I feel the team must shoot at the So Cal Regionals in order for the team to advance to the state finals," said Coach Ben Burnett.
"Felicia Titus and Sam Roberts have been consistent throughout the season. It is good to see Alex Calvillo and Courtney Schroeder beginning to shoot in the low 80's range. We need to try to get accustomed to scoring near 320 on a regular basis."
IVC is at the League Cup Invitational at Riverview on Wednesday and returns to conference action next Monday again at Riverview where Santa Ana will be the host team.
