The Irvine Valley women's golf team entered Monday's Orange Empire Conference match at El Prado unbeaten at 12-0.It left Chino with a record of 15-1.The streak ended when host Santiago Canyon beat the Lasers on a tiebreaker.Irvine Valley and Santiago Canyon finished the day in a tie with team scores of 319 based on the scoring from four players. Santiago Canyon beat IVC based on the score of the fifth players.IVC Coach Ben Burnett was still pleased with his team's effort."Our four team score of 319 is the best competitive score that I can recall an IVC women's team posting on a par 72 golf course in the history of our program," he said. "What I emphasized to the team was that this is the type of score that they might need to shoot at the Southern California Regionals in November to advance to the State Finals. "When you have posted a score under 320 once, it is easier to do it again."IVC was led by freshman Felicia Titus, who was the medalist on the day with a 3 over par score of 75.Freshman Sam Roberts and sophomore Courtney Schroeder were next at 81 and sophomore Alex Calvillo was IVC's fourth scorer at 82. Freshman Bianca Brown had the fifth score of 89.
Conference matches continue Wednesday at the Los Serranos North Course in Chino Hills.
