The Irvine Valley women's golf team lost matches to
Saddleback College and Santiago Canyon at its conference home opener on Wednesday at Oak Creek. IVC fell by just one stroke to Santiago Canyon.
The Lasers did pick up a win over Santa Ana.
Saddleback shot 324, Santiago Canyon was next at 342 and Irvine Valley finished at 343. Santa Ana finished at 386.
Saddleback went undefeated on the day, earning three victories. With the Gauchos winning two of three matches at Tijeras Creek earlier in the week and all three contests at Oak Creek, they moved from last place in conference to second behind Santiago Canyon.
Irvine Valley slipped to third place.
Courtney Schroeder
continued her solid play for IVC posting an 80 on Wednesday. Val Watts also posted a score of 80 for the team.
Alex Calvillo continued to post a competitive score with an 88 for the Lasers.
Katie
Parks had her first non competitive round, soaring to a 96.
Captain Ashley
silver also struggled and shot 95.
The medalist on the day was Saddleback's Laura Cox, who was a recent addition to the Gauchos' roster.
Conference play resumes on Monday at El Prado in Chino Hills with Santiago Canyon as the host team.
