Following the first round of the Orange Empire Conference women's golf finals on Monday only three strokes seperated the top four teams.
Irvine Valley and Santiago Canyon posted the team low scores of 367.
Golden West scored 369 and Saddleback posted a team score of 370.
It was anyone's tournament to win on the final day of the event Wednesday at Los Serranos Golf Course in Chino Hills.
Saddleback came out on top, but Irvine Valley earned second to finish second overall and earn a berth into the Southern California Regionals as a team.
Irvine Valley had to beat both Golden West and Santiago to move on. That is exactly what it did.
The Lasers finished second by winning a nine-hole team score card off to break a tie for second place with them and Golden West.
Paced by team captain Ailam Truong’s medalist for the day score of 79, IVC achieved all of its goals.
Truong's 5 over par 79 included three birdies and eight pars. Truong carded a score of 89 on the first day of the event.
Saddleback shot 357 for a two-day score of 727.
Irvine Valley followed with a 368 for a two-day score of 735. Golden West shot 381 for a two-day score of 750. Santiago Canyon, paced by player of the year Esther Lee’s score of 80, shot 384 for a two-day score of 751.
Truong and Hiroko Hibara ended up earning all-conference honors for the Lasers.
Hibara shot rounds of 92 and 96. Also for Irvine Valley, Lina Huh shot rounds of 92 and 100 and Ashley Silver shot 97 and 93.
The Southern California Regionals will be played next Monday and Tuesday, on the Los Serranos North Course.
The Orange Empire Conference will host the event.
Santa Barbara City and College of the Canyons will be favored to finish in the top two spots and advance to the state championships.
