Women's golf team continues to improve

The Irvine Valley women's golf team had another impressive early season result.
The Lasers finished fifth at the two-day Golden West College Desert Classic in Palm Springs last Friday and Saturday. Irvine Valley was fifth out of the 13 teams that entered the tournament. Schools from all over the state participated.
Leading the way for Irvine Valley was Ailam Truong, who shot 165 (rounds of 79 and 86). Seyoung Jang was next at 171 (89 and 82). Lina Huh shot 173 (88 and 85), Hiroko Hibara carded 174 (86 and 88) and Ashley Silver finished at 177 (90 and 87).
“Everyone on the IVC team continues to improve,” Irvine Valley Coach Ben Burnett said. "Our goals for this tournament were to see how strong the teams were tthat we would likely see in post season play. We also wanted to give our best effort and bond as a team. We accomplished our goals”
The three best teams at the tournament were Santa Barbara City, College of the Desert and Sierra.
Next up for Irvine Valley is a non-conference invitational match on Monday at Oak Creek. IVC will host Mt. Sac and Long Beach City. Mt. Sac is the defending state champion.
