The season Irvine Valley freshman women's basketball player Vanessa Dominguez had earned her first-team all-Orange Empire Conference honors.
On her way to the honor the forward out of Mission Viejo High set one Irvine Valley school record and came close to eclipsing two others.
Her total of 321 rebounds for the season was a new school record, eclipsing the 301 by Lauren O'Hara during the 1998-99 season.
Dominguez's 489 points for the season was second all-time in school history only behind the 555 points put up by Heather Cunningham during the 1997-98 campaign.
And her 79 steals for the season ranks third on the all-time list.
For the season Dominguez averaged 18.1 points, 11.9 rebounds and 2.9 steals per game. She recorded double-doubles (points and rebounds) in 22 of the team's 27 games. Dominguez failed to score in double figures in only one contest and scored at least 20 points in 11 games.
Her top scoring game was a 28-point effort against Fullerton and her top rebounding game was a 17-board performance against Saddleback.
The Irvine Valley women's team ended the season with a record of 12-15 overall and was tied for fifth in the Orange Empire Conference standings with a 6-8 mark.
