Women's basketball team ranked 15th in So. Cal.

The Irvine Valley women's basketball team is ranked 15th in the South Region Preseason Poll, which was put out by JCScores.com on Tuesday.
Mt. San Antonio was the top-ranked team with 81 points. Ventura was second with 80 points and the most first-place votes (four). Pasadena City was ranked third with 74 points and followed by Fullerton at fourth with 73 points, Antelope Valley at fifth with 53 points, College of the Canyons at sixth with 52 points and Palomar at seventh with 48 points.
Cerritos and Mt. San Jacinto were tied for eighth with 41 points, Cypress was ranked 10th with 38 points and Orange Coast and Santa Barbara City were tied for 11th with 32 points. San Bernardino Valley was ranked 13th with 29 points, Riverside was 14th with 14 points and Irvine Valley rounded out the top 15 with 12 points.
Also receiving votes were Bakersfield, Chaffey, Citrus, Pierce, Saddleback and Santa Ana.
The IVC women's team opens the season on Friday against No. 8 Cerritos in a non-conference game at Irvine Valley at 5 p.m.
The Lasers are led by returning players Erika Garcia, Courtney Kollasch and Sydney Hughes. DJ Butler is also back after red-shirting last season. Top newcomers include Tyne McClure and Hannah Girdley.
