Women's basketball team dominates Cuyamaca

A 10-day layoff didn't affect the Irvine Valley women's basketball team.
The Lasers scored their most points, grabbed their most rebounds and scored their largest margin of victory this season in a 84-39 win over Cuyamaca Friday night at home.
It was the team's fifth-straight victory.
Irvine Valley out-scored Cuyamaca by 18 points in the first half (34-16) and 27 points in the second half (50-23).
The Lasers went on a 21-0 run over the opening 7:52 of the second half to take a 55-16 lead and put the game far out of reach.
Everyone got to play for Irvine Valley and all 12 plays scored at least two points.
Sophomore Alleson Frampton led the way with a career-high 17 points and 11 rebounds. She made 8 of 17 shots from the field. Six of her rebounds were also on the offensive end.
Freshman Courtney Kollasch finished with 14 points, four assists and five steals, freshman Sydney Hughes had her best game of the season with 12 points and nine rebounds (six offensive) and sophomore Tessa Ross came off the bench to contribute a career-high 10 points and five rebounds.
The Lasers had 22 assists in the game, including a team-high six by sophomore Ivy Melo.
Irvine Valley shot 40.0 percent for the game (34 of 85) and out-rebounded Cuyamaca, 65-33. The Lasers had an impressive 30 offensive rebounds.
The Lasers also limited Cuyamaca to just 25.5 percent shooting for the game (14 of 55). The Coyotes committed 28 turnovers. They were paced by Trina Clark, who had 18 points.
Irvine Valley plays again next Thursday in its own Irvine Valley Women's Tournament. The Lasers open up against College of the Desert on Thursday at 6 p.m.
There will be four games played on Thursday, four on Friday and three games on Saturday in the eight-team tourney.
