Women's basketball team downs Cypress

The Irvine Valley women's basketball team got itself right back into the Orange Empire Conference race Wednesday night with a road win over Cypress.
After dropping their first two games to open conference play, the Lasers have now won three straight games after the 64-55 victory over the Chargers.
Irvine Valley trailed, 29-27, at halftime, but out-scored the Chargers by nine in the second half for the win. The game featured 12 lead changes and six ties.
IVC had four players score in double figures. DJ Butler had 13 points and eight rebounds, Nicole Tait contributed 12 points and six rebounds, Patrice Fuentes finished with 11 points and eight rebounds and Jenna Schonfeld had 10 points.
Ashley Dunn chipped in with seven points and seven rebounds for IVC. The Lasers improved their record to 14-7 overall and 3-2 in conference.
Irvine Valley takes on Golden West Friday night in a home game that will be played at Concordia University in Irvine at 7 p.m. IVC's Hart Gymnasium is being used for the annual Astounding Inventions event.
