Men's volleyball team wins at Santa Monica

The Irvine Valley men's volleyball team had maybe its best win of the season on Wednesday, defeating Santa Monica on the road in four games.
The Lasers came out on top, 30-24, 30-22, 16-30, 30-26.
The win halted a two-match slide for Irvine Valley and improved the team's record to 3-2 on the season.
Freshman outside hitter Brandon Directo had a monster match. He finished with a season-high 24 kills. Directo was set 51 times and hit .333 for the contest. He also added three digs.
Freshman middle blocker Corey Brophy contributed 11 kills on .409 hitting and added seven blocks and five digs.
Freshman Garret Dvoracek was also large for the Lasers with nine kills and 10 digs.
Freshman Kyle Smith chipped in seven kills, three blocks and five digs and freshman setter James Alexander finished with 51 assists, seven digs and three blocks.
The Lasers hit .295 as a team.
Irvine Valley hosts Moorpark, which has a record of 6-0, on Friday at 6 p.m.
It is IVC’s final match before beginning Pacific Coast Conference play. Irvine Valley opens conference next Friday with a home match against Golden West at 6 p.m.
