Men's volleyball team drops first match

The Irvine Valley men's volleyball team dropped its first match of the season Wednesday afternoon at home.
The Lasers fell to Los Angeles Pierce in four close games, 30-24, 27-30, 25-30, 27-30.
IVC's record slipped to 2-1 overall. Pierce improved to 4-0.
"We had our chances," IVC Coach Tom Pestolesi said. "We won the first game and could have won the second and fourth games. We couldn't close them out."
Irvine Valley was led by freshman middle blocker Taylor Galliano, who had 16 kills. He also hit .571 (21-16-3).
Freshman outside hitter Brandon Directo added 10 kills, 10 digs and four aces and freshman middle blocker Corey Brophy had 10 kills, two blocks and two aces.
Freshman libero Chris Reames contributed nine digs.
Freshmen James Alexander and Garrret Dvoracek shared the setting duties.
Alexander had 26 assists and six digs, while Dvoracek finished with 14 assists.
IVC hit .230 as a team for the match and had 17 serving errors.
The Lasers play at Long Beach City on Friday at 6 p.m. The Lasers are at Santa Monica next Wednesday and return home on Friday, Feb. 20 against Moorpark at 6 p.m.
