The Irvine Valley men's volleyball team saw its record slip to 2-1 on the season after a four-game (31-33, 30-28, 30-18, 30-22) loss to LA Pierce last Friday night on the road.
The Lasers hit just .171 as a team in the contest.
Freshman Reese Haine led the way with 17 kills, nine digs and six blocks.
Sophomore Peter Johnson had 14 kills and freshman Nick Martus added seven kills and seven blocks.
Sophomore libero Kaleo Baxter contributed 27 digs and freshman setter Phil Younglove had 38 assists.
The Lasers will next take on the team that they beat for the state title last season. Irvine Valley hosts Long Beach City on Wednesday at home at 6 p.m.
The match features the last two state title winners (IVC in 2007 and LBCC in 2006).
Long Beach City has a record of 3-0 after beating San Diego Mesa in three games on the road last Friday.
