The Irvine Valley men's volleyball team bounced back from its first Pacific Coast Conference loss with a with a five-game win at San Diego City on Friday.
Irvine Valley came out on top, 30-17, 25-30, 30-23, 26-30, 15-12.
Outside hitter Peter Johnson led the way with 26 kills. Middle blocker Bryan Simmons added 16 kills and five blocks. Outside hitter Marcus Fernandez had 10 kills and nine digs, libero Sean Grubbs contributed 10 digs and setter Tyler Rex ended up with 66 assists.
The win improved Irvine Valley's record to 8-2 overall and 3-1 in conference. It takes on Palomar on Wednesday at home at 6 p.m.
Palomar has a record of 2-7 on the season, but it is 2-2 in conference play.
The Comets have defeated Golden West and Grossmont and lost to Orange Coast and San Diego City.
Palomar rallied after losing the opening game and defeated Grossmont in five games Friday night at home, 24-30, 30-26, 30-25, 24-30, 15-6. Ross Johnson (19 kills) and Casey Sawyer (13 kills) led Palomar.
