The three singles players and one doubles team representing Irvine Valley College on the second day of the Orange Empire Conference men’s tennis tournament were eliminated.

Dan Loney, Andrew Heatherly and Michael Flores each lost in singles and the team of Heatherly and Flores fell in doubles on Thursday at Saddleback College.

Each singles player and the doubles team had won an opening round match on Tuesday.

Loney and Flores each lost in straight sets to players from College of the Desert on Thursday. Heatherly lost to Saddleback’s top player in straight sets.

In doubles competition, Heatherly and Flores fell to College of the Desert’s Robert Sabo and Anthony Gomez, 6-4, 6-2.

By winning a match and reaching the quarterfinals in doubles Heatherly and Flores still qualified for the Southern California Regional tournament which is next week.
