The Irvine Valley men's and women's tennis teams competed in the Charger Invitational at Cypress College last week.Players turned in several solid results.IVC sophomore Chad Sigler, who was the No. 3 seed in singles, advanced to the semifinals with wins over players from Mt. San Jacinto and Cypress before losing to second-seeded Gabor Toth from Mt. San Jacinto.The Lasers' Devin Moran also had a good run to the round of 16 with wins over players from Cypress and Mt. SAC.The Irvine Valley doubles team of Niko Katigbak and Dhanuk Withana advanced to the quarterfinals before losing to the third-seeded team from Cypress.On the women's side, Irvine Valley's Katie Billings made it to the semifinals in singles with wins over Cypress and IVC teammate Sandi Richards.Billings fell in the semifinals to the No. 1 seed from Mt. San Jacinto.The team of Billings and Erin Kang advanced to the finals of women's doubles. The duo fell there to the top-seeded team from Mt. San Jacinto.IVC's team of Tina Vuong and Jacqueleen Bitar made it to the semifinals in the doubles draw before falling to teammates Billings and Kang.
