Men's tennis starts season with win

The Irvine Valley men's tennis team kicked off its 2008 season in style, sweeping Long Beach City, 9-0, in a non-conference match at Irvine Valley on Thursday.
The Lasers won all six singles sets in straight sets and had little trouble in taking all three doubles sets.
In singles, Jet Tabu defeated Nathan Bowers, 6-4, 6-2, at the No. 1 spot, Huy Ngueyn beat Max Vallejo, 6-1, 6-1, at No. 2, Alvin Lo beat Nat Boochangkook, 6-1, 6-2, at the No. 3 position, Tony Ly defeated Reynold Tacsuah, 6-2, 6-3, at No. 4, Devin Moran beat Charles Miller, 6-4, 6-1, at the No. 5 spot and David Theis wrapped things up at the No. 6 position with a 6-1, 6-3 win over Bryan Millado.
In doubles Tabuo and Nguyen won, 8-2 at the No. 1 position.
The IVC teams of Jon Ormont and Lo and Ly and Moran each won by scores of 8-0.
Irvine Valley plays again Tuesday, Feb. 5 at Mt. San Antonio College. The Lasers' next home match is Thursday, Feb. 7 against El Camino at 2 p.m.
