Men's tennis team improves to 2-0

The Irvine Valley men's tennis team improved its record to 2-0 on the season with a 5-4 non-conference victory over Palomar at home Tuesday afternoon.
The Lasers got wins at the second through fifth singles positions to earn the win.
Peter Hasrouni won, 6-3, 6-0, at No. 2 singles, Brandon Myers came out on top, 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3 singles, Filipe Mendes won, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 4 singles and Alvin Lo was victorious, 6-4, 6-2, at No. 5 singles for the Lasers.
Brian Lee nearly won at No. 1 singles, but fell in three sets, 6-4, 0-6, 6-4.
The No. 2 doubles team of Brian Lee and Mendes also picked up a victory in doubles, winning, 8-0.
It was the second straight season Irvine Valley defeated Palomar, which is a perennial top team in Southern California.
"It was a strong effort from our young team," Irvine Valley Coach Mike Meissenburg said.
Irvine Valley only returns one player (Hasrouni) from last year's squad.
