Men's soccer team misses out on playoffs

The Irvine Valley men's soccer team's final three games cost it a chance to get into the Southern California Regional Playoffs.
The teams making the post season were announced on Tuesday, and the Lasers were on the outside looking in.
Irvine Valley suffered a tie and two losses to finish the year. It ended up sixth place in the Orange Empire Conference and had a record of 8-10-3 overall.
The top 13 teams made it into Southern California Regional Playoffs. The criteria for making the field was by a power point ranking, which is based on record and strength of schedule. Irvine Valley was 14th on the list with a ranking of 1.1843.
The team in front of IVC was conference rival Orange Coast at 1.8205. The Pirates didn't make it either, getting bumped out by Southwestern, which had a lower power point ranking, but earned an automatic berth by winning the Pacific Coast Conference.
Three teams from the Orange Empire Conference made it into the playoff field - Santa Ana, Fullerton and Riverside.
IVC dropped matches to Santa Ana and Riverside last week to end the season.
The Lasers fell to Riverside, 3-1, last Friday at home.
After a scoreless first half, IVC scored in the 47th minute after a handball by Riverside in the box resulted in a penalty kick.
Sophomore midfielder Roberto Linck converted the penalty kick to make it a 1-0 game.
Riverside answered six minutes later, scoring on a free kick to tie the score.
The Tigers added goals in the 87th and 88th minutes to pull out the win.
IVC had its chances to score throughout the game, including those by Will Harrison, Bruno Sad in the second half, but the Lasers didn't find the back of the net again.
