Irvine Valley men's soccer coach Martin McGrogan could very well reach a milestone on Friday.
McGrogan, who is in his 19th-year of guiding the Irvine Valley men's soccer program, will go after his 250th victory as coach of the Lasers against Cypress at 4 p.m. at IVC.
The Lasers gave him win No. 249 with a spirited effort on Wednesday at Riverside. The Lasers earned a 4-2 win over the Tigers to improve their record to 6-6-2 overall and 4-3-0 in Orange Empire Conference play this season.
The victory on Wednesday also kept Irvine Valley within striking distance of first-place in the conference standings. Heading into this week's action, IVC trailed Santiago Canyon and Fullerton by just two points for first.
Going into Friday's match, McGrogan, had a record of 249-111-64, in his 18-plus seasons at IVC. He has had a winning record in all but one of those seasons and won two state titles (1993 and 2003).
