The Irvine Valley men’s soccer team gave up a goal with just under two minutes to play and fell, 2-1, to Orange Coast in a Orange Empire Conference match Tuesday afternoon at Irvine Valley.Scotty Locken’s goal off a line-drive right footed-shot from the left side of the box in the 88th minute from a cross by Marco Ramirez was the difference for the Pirates.It was Locken’s second goal of the match.The first half was scoreless. The best chance for either team came on a shot by Orange Coast’s Gustavo Ibarra that hit the inside of the left post and bounced out in the 41st minute.Locken gave the Pirates a 1-0 advantage in the 55th minute when he knocked in a ball off a corner kick from Ibarra.The Lasers answered five minutes later. Freshman forward Allen Villa settled the ball in the OCC defensive end and then lofted a pass over the defense that freshman forward Yevgeniy Udartsev ran onto. Udartsev chipped a shot over the head of OCC goalie Brian Rippeto and into the left side of the net. It was Udartsev's first goal of the season.IVC had two corner kicks and three free kicks in the OCC end in the final 10 minutes, plus a shot from close range by sophomore Roberto Linck, but couldn’t capitalize. Rippeto made the save on Linck’s attempt.Orange Coast out-shot Irvine Valley, 12-8, in the contest.The defeat was Irvine Valley’s second straight 2-1 loss. The win snapped a five-match losing streak for the Pirates. Orange Coast improved its record to 5-6-0 overall and 1-2-0 in conference, while IVC slipped to 3-5-2 overall and 1-2-0 in conference.The Lasers play again on Friday, hosting Santiago Canyon in a conference match at 1 p.m.
