Three former Irvine Valley men's soccer players have moved on to play at Cal Baptist in Riverside this coming season.Cal Baptist is a four-year NAIA institution. The Lancers compete in the Golden State Athletic Conference against the likes of Concordia and Azusa Pacific.Defenders Darren Whitty and Christian Correa-Henschke were starting players for Irvine Valley the past two seasons.Whitty, originally from Bracknell in England, was named all-Orange Empire Conference first team in 2007 for the Lasers. From his defender spot, Whitty finished with three goals and two assists.Correa-Henschke, who prepped at Canyon High in Anaheim Hills, was an all-conference player and the leader of the Lasers' defense for two straight years. Whitty and Correa-Henschke also helped the Lasers reach the Southern California regional finals two straight seasons. Cordray played at Irvine Valley during the 2005 and 2006 seasons. He was a starter and a top defensive player both years, earning all-conference honors. Cordray transferred to Cal Baptist from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo where he received all-Big West Conference honorable mention accolades last year.The three will join Cal Baptist assistant coach Shaun Harris, who was the associate coach at Irvine Valley the past two years.Cal Baptist finished with a 6-10-1 record last year, but has a new coaching staff this season.
