Men's soccer team ties conference opener

Not playing a match for more than two weeks might have taken its toll on the Irvine Valley College men's soccer team on Tuesday.
Irvine Valley opened Orange Empire Conference play with a 0-0 tie at Riverside.
The Lasers (4-2-1) last played before Tuesday on Sept. 9 (a 3-1 win at home over Compton).
The tie for Riverside was its first positive points of the year. The Tigers had lost their first five matches of the season. Riverside has scored just four goals now in six contests.
Irvine Valley was averaging nearly three goals a game so far this season.
But Riverside goalie Pablo Isaias was up to the task on Tuesday, finishing with seven saves.
Irvine Valley (4-2-1) goes after its first conference win on Friday at Fullerton.
The Lasers' have their conference home opener next Tuesday against Orange Coast at 3 p.m. It is part of a doubleheader with the Irvine Valley women's soccer team.
