Men's golf team falls to Palomar
Apr 14, 2008
The Irvine Valley College men's golf team shot the second best of four team scores in an Orange Empire Conference match at Twin Oaks last Wednesday.
But all the Lasers got in the effort was a loss to host Palomar. The Comets bested all tams with a score of 362.
IVC scored 393, Santiago Canyon finished at 396 and Riverside came in at 426.
Palomar cinched no worse than a tie for first place going into the conference finals.
IVC, Orange Coast, Riverside and Santiago Canyon failed to qualify for team play in the conference finals.
Those teams will supply the 10 individual players for the tournament.
IVC co-captain Troy Davis ended the season with a scoring average of 76. However, due to an ankle injury, he did not meet the conference finals requirement of competing in the number of required conference matches.
IVC freshman Drew Exon easily qualified.
Aaron Levine and Adam Ruppert tied for the ninth and 10th qualifying spots.
Co-captain Dominik Pietschmann shot a final round score of 75 at Twin Oaks. He had to wait for the results of Orange Coast's final match this week to see if he qualifies for the conference finals.
In the match with Palomar, Pietschmann finished at 75 with three birdies, 10 pars, four bogeys and one double bogey.
Chris Ho came in at 78, Ruppert finished at 79, Exon carded a score of 80 and Levine finished at 81 for Irvine Valley.
