Golf team shoots season low score, still falls

The Irvine Valley men's golf team equaled its low team score of the season Wednesday in an Orange Empire Conference match at Cottonwood Country Club.
IVC posted a very competitive score of 374.
But it was not good enough.
Host Cuyamaca had a score of 4 under par 356. Cuyamaca also defeated Palomar (368) and Santa Ana (365) in the match.
"This is just further proof of the strength of the Orange Empire Golf Conference," said IVC Coach Ben Burnett.
"I was pleased with the scores we posted. All six IVC golfers scored in the 70's. All we could do was congratulate Cuyamaca for picking up three impressive victories and move into the crowded competition for first place (in the conference)."
For Irvine Valley, freshman Drew Exon, who almost withdrew due to back spasms, posted a 1 under par 71 to lead the way.
It was his third 71 in IVC's eighth conference matches played to date. Exon birdied the first two holes. He played the rest of the course with all pars and one bogey.
Co-Captain Dominik Pietschmann had two birdies, 12 pars and four bogeys for a score of 74.
Sophomore Aaron Levine had three birdies, 10 pars, four bogeys and a double bogey to shoot a score of 75.
Co-Captain Troy Davis had two birdies, 10 pars and six bogeys for a 76.
And freshman Cole Fisher had one birdie, 10 pars and seven bogeys for a score of 78.
IVC travels to the Navy Golf Course on Monday to compete against Cypress in a conference match.
