Men's golf team finishes fourth at conference finals

Irvine Valley golfer Travis Reeves made the most of his rounds on Monday and Wednesday at the Orange Empire Conference Finals at Los Serranos Golf Course in Chino Hills.
Reeves, who had to win a two-round challenge match over Barney Suguitan and Aaron Levine, in order to return to the starting line up for the finals, shot the low 36-hole score to be Irvine Valley's medalist.
He shot 2 over par 74 on the North Course of Los Serranos and 2 over par 76 on the South Course to finish with a score of 150 and help Irvine Valley take fourth. Irvine Valley had a team score of 761.
"He is a team captain and his leadership paced us to the fourth-place finish," Irvine Valley Coach Ben Burnett said of Reeves.
The fourth-place finish in conference meant that Irvine Valley advanced to the team to the Southern California Regionals. That 36-hole contest will be played at the Santa Maria Country Club, on Monday, May 1.
From there, four teams and six individuals will qualify to compete in the State Championships at the SCGA Members Course in Murietta on Monday, May 8.
Also at the conference championships for Irvine Valley, Jimmy Willingham shot 151, Cory Cannon came in at 152, Karolis Raudys finished at 154 and Bret Becker ended at 159. Brad Chamberlin's 160 was Irvine Valley's throw out score.
Santiago Canyon won the conference tournament and ended up tying Saddleback (who was the regular season champion) for the conference title.
