Men's basketball team drops opener in Saddleback Tournament

The Irvine Valley men's basketball team dropped its third game in a row, falling to Mt. San Jacinto, 59-57, in the opening round of the Bill Brummel Tournament at Saddleback College on Thursday.
Irvine Valley, which saw its record slip to 8-7 on the season, led, 30-22, after the first half.
It limited Mt. San Jacinto to just 34.6 percent shooting from the floor.
But the Lasers were out-scored, 37-27, in the second half to take the loss.
IVC shot just 28.6 percent (6 of 21) from the floor in the final 20 minutes.
The Lasers scored 14 of their 27 points in the second half from the free throw line.
Irvine Valley was led by sophomore forward Brandon Hucks, who had 13 points and 10 rebounds.
Sophomore center Matt Ballard was the other Laser player in double figures with 10 points.
Freshman guard Andrew Arnold chipped in a season-high nine points for the Lasers.
Irvine Valley will play Friday in a consolation bracket game.
