Men's basketball team falls to Fullerton

The Irvine Valley men's basketball team had its 12-game winning streak snapped by Fullerton on Wednesday night in a key Orange Empire Conference contest.
The Lasers, ranked second in the state, fell to No. 6 Fullerton, 71-64, at Fullerton.
IVC (23-3, 7-1) fell into a first-place tie with Fullerton in the Orange Empire Conference standings.
Irvine Valley defeated Fullerton in two overtimes the first time the two teams met.
The loss on Wednesday, Irvine Valley had its second lowest scoring output of the season.
The Lasers shot 58.7 percent from the field in the game, but hurt themselves with 25 turnovers.
Freshman point guard La'Shard Anderson led Irvine Valley with 15 points. Sophomore center Bryce Webster and sophomore wing Kashif Watson each had 14 points.
Irvine Valley has another big game on Friday. It hosts Riverside at 7:30 p.m. Riverside, which is ranked 10th in the state, sits just one game behind the Lasers and Fullerton in the conference standings.
Irvine Valley edged Riverside, 64-63, the first time the two teams met.
Riverside has a record of 21-6 overall and 5-2 in conference heading into Friday's game.
The Tigers are coming off a 72-68 win at Saddleback on Wednesday. Riverside won despite shooting just 36.1 percent from the field (22 of 61) and 59.0 percent from the line (23 of 39). The Tigers got 22 points from Anthony Scott, 15 points and 10 rebounds from Keiran Nunley and a team-high 11 rebounds from Matt Ibewiro.
For Irvine Valley on the season, Watson leads the team, averaging 13.2 points. He is also
averaging 5.5 rebounds and 2.8 assists.
Blake Wallace is averaging 13.1
points, 6.5 rebounds and shooting 59.7 percent from the field. Wallace
is averaging 14.4 points and 7.7 rebounds in conference.
Webster is
IVC’s third player in double figures, averaging 11.6 points per game
overall. He is also averaging 5.6 rebounds, 1.6 blocks and is shooting
63.1 percent from the field.
IVC is shooting an impressive 50.9 percent
from the field as a team.

Anderson (9.6 points, 3.2 assists, 2.2 steals and 40.3 percent on
three-pointers), Jeff Ledbetter (9.2 points and 44.6 percent on
three-pointers), Toney (6.9 points and 2.2 assists) and Perry Webster
(5.3 points and 3.2 assists).
Anderson is averaging 10.4 points and 3.9
assists in conference. IVC is averaging 80.0 points per game this
season.
