Men's basketball team wins Beaver Classic in Sacramento

Irvine Valley, which is ranked sixth in the state, won the Beaver Classic at American River College in Sacramento last weekend.
It was the first time IVC has competed in the tournament, which featured a number of top teams in the state.
The Lasers defeated Sacramento City, 106-70, in the first round on Thursday and then beat 11th-ranked American River, 85-65, in the semifinals on Friday before taking out eighth-ranked Yuba, 81-65, in the final on Saturday.
Sophomore guard/forward Kashif Watson was named the tournament's most valuable player. He scored 17 points in the title game. Freshman point guard La'Shard Anderson and sophomore center Bryce Webster were also named to the all-tournament team.
Irvine Valley stayed unbeaten, improving its record to 9-0 on the season. The Lasers play again next Thursday in the Rio Hondo Tournament. Their first round game is against Glendale at 7 p.m.
