Men's basketball team now ranked third in the state

The Irvine Valley men's basketball team's ranking of eighth in the state last week was the highest ever in program history.
The Lasers set a new mark this week. Irvine Valley moved up to third in the state after winning its own IVC Classic presented by Spectrum Bank last weekend.
There was a new No. 1 team in the state for the third straight week in the California Community Colleges Men's Basketball Coaches Association poll.
This week, it is San Joaquin Delta, which holds the No. 1 ranking after winning the Cosumnes River Tournament.
Delta edged Fullerton for the top spot. The Hornets, who are undefeated at 6-0 after winning their own tournament, finished 18 points behind Delta in the race for the No. 1 ranking.
Irvine Valley holds the No. 3 spot, climbing five spot in this week's poll.
Fresno, which avenged its loss two weeks ago to San Francisco, comes in at No. 4. Fresno had started the season No. 1 as the state's defending champion, but relinquished the top spot after losing to San Francisco.
San Francisco, who held the No. 1 spot last week, couldn't hold on to this week after the Rams fell to Fresno in the finals of the Fresno Tournament. The loss dropped San Francisco into the No. 5 spot, followed by American River and Los Angeles Trade Tech, which continues to be surprise this season at 3-0.
Antelope Valley, a favorite to win its first men'ss state basketball championship this season, suffered its first loss this year in the Fullerton Tournament, and paid for it falling to No. 8 after holding the No. 2 spot last week. Yuba came at No. 9 and Citrus climbs three spot to break into the Top 10.
Irvine Valley is second in the Southern California regional poll behind only Fullerton.
Irvine Valley plays again Tuesday at home, hosting Southwestern in a non-conference game at 4 p.m.
