Consolation championship game
Santa Monica 68 – College of the Canyons 56

All-tournament player Noah Gottlieb paces Santa Monica with 17 points and six assists. Guard Ryan Avilez came off the bench to contribute 16 points and reserve forward Arthur Braswell finished with nine points and 11 rebounds. Center John Brown also had a solid game for the Corsairs with eight points and seven rebounds. Santa Monica out-rebounded Canyons, 40-33, including grabbing 20 offensive boards.
Canyons was led by guard Brian Kimble, who had 15 points and guard Jason Holzwarth, who finished with 13 points. Canyons shot 47.7 percent from the floor in the game, but hurt itself by committing 26 turnovers.

Third-place game
Ventura 85 – Cerritos 81

Cerritos, which won the third-place game a year ago, tried to rally at the end of the game after being down by double digits for most of the second half, but couldn’t fight all the way back.
Ventura got 21 points and six rebounds from guard Kevin Menner, 15 points and six rebounds from reserve forward Angelo Whitehead and 13 points from guard Dee Pinkard in the win.
Ventura had five players in all score in double figures. The Pirates also did a job on the boards finishing with 40 rebounds to Cerritos’ 28. Ventura grabbed 15 offensive rebounds in the game.

Cerritos got 38 points, seven rebounds and five assists from guard Aaron Thompson in the loss. The 38 points was the most scored by a player in the tournament this year and tied for second most in tourney history.
Forward Travele Jones was the other player in double figures for Cerritos with 13 points. He also had six rebounds and five blocks.

Championship game
Irvine Valley 79 – Long Beach City 68

Irvine Valley improved its record to 5-0 on the year and won its own tournament for the first time since the 2001-02 season with the victory over Long Beach City. But it wasn’t easy.
The Lasers, who are ranked eighth in the state, weren’t able to pull away until the final two minutes.

IVC led for most of the game, but it was close throughout. Long Beach City pulled to within 69-66 with 2:06 to play on a runner by guard Matt Richard. But the Lasers out-scored the Vikings, 10-2, the rest of the way.

Sophomore guard/forward Kashif Watson scored inside to put Irvine Valley ahead, 71-66, with 1:37 to play and then Irvine Valley went 8 of 8 from the free throw line in the final 59.3 to seal the victory. Freshman guard Jeff Ledbetter made six of those free throws.

Long Beach
City had five players in double figures. Richard had 17 points, seven rebounds and six assists. Guard Ian Pinckney finished with 14 points, guards Tyler Mitchell and Vance Lawrence each added 12 points and center Shawntell Norman chipped in 11 points and 11 rebounds.

Irvine
Valley got a game-high 21 points and 11 rebounds from sophomore forward Blake Wallace. Ledbetter scored 15 points and had five rebounds, sophomore center Bryce Webster finished with 12 points, seven rebounds and two blocks and freshman guard La’Shard Anderson added 10 points and four steals.

Webster was named the tournament's most valuable player, while Anderson, Wallace and Lebetter were also named to the all-tournament team for the Lasers.
