Baseball team wins four games in two days

With a break in the Orange Empire Conference schedule, the Irvine Valley baseball team played four non-conference games in two days this week.
The Lasers won all four to improve their record to 19-14.
Irvine Valley swept Antelope Valley on Wednesday, 9-4, and, 5-0, at IVC.
Gary Gerhardt pitched 8 2/3 solid innings in the opener. He gave up six hits and four runs, but none were earend. Gerhardt also struck out four batters. The freshman right-hander improved his record to 4-3 on the season.
Third baseman Vince Hungerford homered for Irvine Valley. It was his second of the season. Hungerford was 1 for 4 with two RBI.
Catcher Connor Rhoads also went 1 for 4 with two RBI. Right fielder Robbie Robinson continued his hot streak at the plate, going 3 for 5 with two runs scored. Left fielder Kory Burkhart was 2 for 5 with one RBI and designated hitter Alonzo Vasquez went 2 for 4 with one RBI for the Lasers.
In the second game against Antelope Valley, lefty Daniel Cabuling picked up the win. He pitched five scoreless innings, allowing just one hit and one walk. Cabuling struck out six. He improved his record to 2-1.
Paul Sandoval threw two scoreless innings to finish out the seven-inning game. He gave up just one hit.
On offense, Irvine Valley scored three runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to put the game away.
Second baseman Sean Williams was 2 for 2 with two runs scored and one RBI. Rhoads went 1 for 2 with one RBI and center fielder Thomas Mobley was 1 for 1 with one RBI. Catcher Bobby Gomez was 1 for 2.
The Lasers then swept a pair of games from Victor Valley on Thursday at home.
Irvine Valley came out on top, 5-2, in the opening game, which was seven innings. The Lasers won the second game, 7-1.
Matt Reyes improved his record to 4-3 with a win in the first game. He threw all seven innings, giving up two runs on 10 hits with one strikeout. All 10 hits against Reyes were singles.
First baseman Jon Saldana led the offensive attack, going 3 for 3 with one RBI. Hungerford was 2 for 3 with one RBI, Rhoads went 1 for 3 with one RBI and Williams was 1 for 2 with one RBI.
In the second game, Jared Haller threw a complete game on the mound for IVC. He gave up just one run on four hits and recorded a career-high 10 strikeouts.
IVC fell behind early, but scored five runs in the bottom of the fourth to take the lead for good.
Gomez was 3 for 4 with two RBI, left fielder Nate Miller was 2 for 4 with one RBI, Williams went 2 for 4, , Robbie Robinson was 1 for 3 and center fielder Kory Burkhart and shortstop Colton Hamill were each 1 for 4 with one RBI.
Irvine Valley gets back to conference action on Tuesday at league-leading Orange Coast at 2 p.m.
The Lasers host OCC on Thursday at 2 p.m.
