It wasn't a good day for the Irvine Valley men's golf team on Wednesday at Oak Creek.
The Lasers shot an unusually high score of 408 to lose to both Cypress and Santa Ana in an Orange Empire Conference match.
Cypress finished at 388 and Santa Ana came in at 390.
"At this point in the season home teams are expected to shoot scores in the 360 and 370 range when defending their home course," IVC Coach Ben Burnett said.
Adam Ruppert scored a 75 to lead the Lasers. He was under par until he triple bogeyed the par 5 15th hole and double bogeyed the par 3 hole 16th hole.
Ruppert finished with three birdies, 11 pars, two bogeys, a double bogey and a triple bogey.
Sylvain Debiais posted the other IVC competitive score of 78. He had one birdie, 10 pars and eight bogeys.
"Losing twice this season to Santa Ana now makes it unlikely we can attain our goal of qualifying the whole team for conference finals," Burnett said.
Burnett said Ruppert should still qualify as an individual and Daniel Neben, Joe Chun and Debiais also have shots to advance.
IVC, which has three regular season conference matches left, plays again next Wednesday against Orange Coast at the Santa Ana Country Club.
