Baseball team shut out by Orange Coast

The Irvine Valley baseball team matched Orange Coast for three innings on Saturday afternoon.
And the Lasers were in the agme through six frames. But the wheels came off after that and Irvine Valley ended up falling, 9-0, at home in an Orange Empire Conference contest.
The score was tied, 0-0, after three innings and the Lasers trailed only, 1-0, after six complete innings.
But Orange coast scored three runs in the seventh inning, one in the eighth and then four runs in the top of the ninth to cruise to the victory.
Irvine Valley ended up with only three hits in the contest. The Lasers could only muster two hits against Orange Coast starting pitcher Brett Wallach. Wallach went 8.0 innings and gave up two hits and three walks with 10 strikeouts.
Irvine Valley's Daniel Cabuling took a tough loss. Cabuling, who has been IVC's most consistent pitcher this season, gave up one run in the top of the fourth inning. He had to leave later that inning with some should discomfort.
Andrew Jimenez went the next 2 1/3 innings and gave up one run on two hits and a walk and Zach Nuno pitched 1 1/3 innigns and allowed three runs on four hits. Ryan Aguera allowed three runs (one earned) in 2/3 of an inning and John Lamp gave up one unearned run in 1.0 inning.
The Lasers three hits came from sophomore left fielder Kory Burkhart, sophomore right fielder Paul Sandoval and sophomore catcher Corey Thibault.
Drew Hillman led Orange Coast, going 2 for 4 with a home run, two runs scored and two RBI.
The loss dropped Irvine Valley's record to 8-10 overall and 1-4 in conference. The win was Orange Coast's third straight after starting conference 0-2. OCC improved to 12-7 overall and 3-2 in conference.
Irvine Valley plays again on Tuesday at Santa Ana at 2 p.m.
