Baseball team falls at LA Harbor, 8-7

The Irvine Valley baseball team couldn't close out LA Harbor on Tuesday.
The Lasers let a four-run lead slip away and ended up losing, 8-7, in a non-conference game at LA Harbor.
Irvine Valley's record dropped to 3-3 overall.
Irvine Valley led, 6-2, after the top of the top of the fourth inning, but Harbor responded with two runs in the bottom of the fourth inning and two more in the fifth to tie the score.
The Lasers took a 7-6 lead in the top of the seventh inning thanks to a double by second baseman Sean Williams and a LA Harbor error.
But LA Harbor scored two runs in the bottom of the inning to take the lead for good on a hit batter, two singles, a passed ball and a groundout.
Sophomore pitcher Jared Haller started and wasn't involved in the decision. He pitched 4.0 innings, giving six runs (five earned) on eight hits and two walks. Haller had one strikeout.
Freshman reliever Andrew Jimenez took the loss. His record dropped to 2-1. Jimenez pitched 2 2/3 innings and gave up two runs, but neither were earned. He allowed four hits and one walk.
Freshman Gary Gerhardt threw 1 1/3 scoreless innings to close out the game.
Williams was 1 for 4 with two RBI, sophomore catcher Connor Rhoads and sophomore right fielder Robbie Robinson each went 1 for 3 with one RBI and freshman third baseman Antony Gutierrez was 2 for 5.
LA Harbor had 12 hits to Irvine Valley's six hits, but the Lasers left 13 runners on base in the game. LA Harbor pitchers issued 13 walks and hit two batters.
Irvine Valley is scheduled to host San Diego Mesa at 2 p.m. on Thursday as part of the Rio Hondo Tournament.
