The Irvine Valley College women’s badminton team improved its record to 12-0 with another easy victory Wednesday evening at Irvine Valley.
The Lasers, who are the two-time defending state champions, defeated San Diego Mesa, 21-0.
Irvine Valley has shut out 10 of its 12 opponents this season. Its toughest match was a 19-2 win over Santa Ana on April 16.
San Diego Mesa had taken one match against the Lasers the first time the two teams met.
On Wednesday, Irvine Valley swept all of the singles and doubles contests.
Rulan Yeh, Rulien Yeh, Brita Kjalstrom, Jenna Chiu, Ruby Hui and Hanna Chao each won matches in singles for the Lasers.
Rulan Yeh gave up just two points total at No. 1 singles for Irvine Valley.
In doubles Rulan Yeh and Rulien Yeh won, 15-0, 15-2 and 15-0, 15-0.
The No. 2 tem of Kjalstrom and Chiu won, 15-4, 15-2 and 15-2, 15-3.
The No. 3 team of Christine Ly and Yeva Tynkova won its lone match, 15-4, 15-3.
Irvine Valley competes in the Southern California Regional team playoffs next Wednesday and in the Orange Empire Conference Tournament next Friday.
