The Irvine Valley College women’s badminton team has started this season where it left off in 2003.
The Lasers, who are the two-time defending state champions, improved their record to 6-0 with a 21-0 victory over East Los Angeles Friday afternoon at home.
Rulan Yeh, Rulien Yeh, Brita Kjalstrom and Ruby Hui swept for Irvine Valley in the top four singles matches.
Christine Ly and Yeva Tynkova each earned default victories.
Rulien Yeh and Hui didn’t give up a point in either of their sets.
In doubles, the teams of Rulian and Rulien Yeh and Hanna Chao and Annie Wong each swept two sets each.
The Yeh sisters (of University High) are the defending state champions in doubles.
Irvine Valley’s third team of Ly and Tynkova won by default.
The 21-0 team win was Irvine Valley’s fourth by that margin this season.
Irvine Valley plays at Los Angeles City next Wednesday.
