Eva Lee wins singles and doubles titles at 2009 Collegiate National Badminton Championship

Irvine Valley sophomore Eva Lee captured both the women's singles and doubles titles on Sunday at the 2009 Collegiate national Badminton Championship at Irvine Valley College.
Lee, who was a player for the U.S. team at last summer's Beijing Olympics, won four straight matches on her way to the collegiate singles championship.
The top-seeded Lee beat UC Irvine's Joanne Chen in the final, 21-11 and 21-15.
Lee partnered with IVC teammate Vimla Phongasavithas to claim the women's doubles title as well. Lee and Phongasavithas won four matches overall. The duo defeated Daphne Ng and Sophia Law of UC Berkeley in the final, 21-9 and 21-18.
Another Irvine Valley doubles team won the women's consolation title. Anoma Phongasavithas and Ludie Duco won three matches to take that title.
Also for Irvine Valley in the tournament. Vimla Phongasavithas won two matches in the women's singles draw and Amoma Phongasavithas won one match in women's singles.
The tournament featured teams and players from the across the country. Men's and women's singles and doubles and mixed doubles were played.
The overall team title went to UC Berkeley with 90 points. UC Irvine was second with 56.5 points and UC San Diego took third with 53 points.
The Irvine Valley women's badminton team plays again on Friday at San Diego Mesa at 2 p.m.
