PE3 THE LIFE FITNESS CENTER LAB HAS BEEN IMPROVED!

IVC's new course is now known as either KNES 3A, 3B, or 3C. The Life Fitness Center is a Hybrid class; a portion of this class is completed online using Blackboard and a portion is completed by working out in the Life Fitness Center. There are three options from which to choose:

KNES 3A is a 1.0 unit course. KNES 3A requires the student to complete 8 hours of weekly online lectures, 6 quizzes, a midterm and a final, all accessed thru Blackboard. The student must also complete 24 workout hours in-person in the Life Fitness Center.
KNES 3B is a 1.5 unit course. KNES 3B requires the student to complete 8 hours of weekly online lectures, 6 quizzes, a midterm and a final, all accessed thru Blackboard. The student must also complete 48 workout hours in-person in the Life Fitness Center.
KNES 3C is a 2 unit course. KNES 3C requires the student to complete 8 hours of weekly online lectures, 6 quizzes, a midterm and a final, all accessed thru Blackboard. The student must also complete 75 workout hours in-person in the Life Fitness Center.
*All classes, regardless of the unit value require a grade of 70 or better out of a total of 100 points on the Blackboard assignements.
*The class is open enrollment (no add card needed) and is graded on pass/no pass only.
How do I Get Started?
Once enrolled in one of these courses, you must then log-on to the blackboard site: https://socccd.blackboard.com
After selecting your KNES 3 course on Blackboard, click on "Content/Lecture Modules", then click on "Module 1".
1. Print off all 3 pages of "Required Paperwork", fill them out and turn them into the LFC staff in room PE 110.
2. Read the KNES 3 Syllabus
3. Read the Policies and Rules Powepoint.
*After completing all three steps, you may start exercising in the center at your convenience during normal open hours.
How do I Check In/Out?
To ensure your hours are tracked for attendance purposes, and to get access into the LFC, you will check in and out for each workout session using the SARS terminal near the entrance of the center. To check in and out, you will need a valid IVC card. You can get an ID card at Campus Police (CP100) M-F 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
*If you forget to log out, SARS will delete your check-in at the end of the day and you will receive no credit for that session.
Is there a Minimum and Maximum Time?
Each time you use the center, you must exercise for at least 30 minutes to receive credit for that workout. As for maximum, you can only accrue up to 3 hours per day. This is to ensure that you get the most of your workouts and don't overtrain.
What do I bring and wear?
Each time you use the center, you must wear appropriated workout attire including athletic shoes, bring your IVC ID card, and bring your own towel to use while training.
