On Wednesday, December 1, IVC hosted the groundbreaking and dedication of its long-envisioned Arts Village. The complex will be built directly southwest of the current Performing Arts Center, next to the newly built Parking Lot 6. It will consist of three new buildings totaling 62,471 gross square footage and a core area quad. The Arts Village will house the School of the Arts in one main area of campus, while allowing room for future expansion. The new, $44-million village will include Studio Arts, Art History, Music, Digital Media Art, Interactive Media Arts, Dance, individual music practice rooms, rehearsal rooms, two dance studios, studios for painting, digital and interactive media, printmaking, ceramics, and sculpture, assembly space, and a gallery. At the completion of the buildings in the complex, the core area quad has been planned to feature native plantings, artistic displays, and sculptures.
